Design, Development and Evaluation of Low-Cost Educational Materials. Report of a Regional Workshop (Kuala Lumpur, December 5-15, 1977).
United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization, Bangkok (Thailand). Regional Office for Education in Asia and Oceania.
Twenty-three workshop participants representing 12 far eastern countries and Iran examined the range and scope of existing improvised materials in participating countries, and prepared a comprehensive list of educational materials which are being used and which could be used in Asian countries. They also considered trends, problems, and issues in the development and utilization of low-cost educational materials; formulated guidelines and strategies for designing, producing, and evaluating such materials; and developed exemplar materials. Each participant then prepared a brief write-up on measures to undertake in his/her national setting in order to expand and reorient efforts relating to the development of low-cost educational materials. The appendices include (1) the workshop agenda; (2) a list of the participants; (3) a list of the workshop officers, committees, task forces, and working groups; (4) the inaugural address; (5) an overview of the role of the workshop; and (6) a list of low-cost and simple educational materials. Representatives of the two sponsoring organizations--the Malaysian Ministry of Education and Unesco--attended the workshop as observers. (Author/BK)
