Making Job Opportunities for Mentally Retarded People a Reality...
National Association for Retarded Citizens, Arlington, TX. Research and Demonstration Inst.
The role of local Associations for Retarded Citizens and other local groups in helping mentally retarded people become employed is discussed. General information is given on how volunteers can help prepare the retarded person for work, assist in job development and placement, and create job opportunities for mentally retarded persons. The functions of a coordinating committee are traced. Suggestions are made regarding approaching prospective employers, avoiding common mistakes in creating job opportunities, and assisting in followup once the retarded person has been employed. (CL)
