This in-service guide to the San Mateo Nutrition Activity Curriculum (SNAC) was designed to assist the Nutrition Educator and/or the Food Service worker toward a better understanding of the relationship between the "reimbursable" lunch/breakfast program and the dietary needs of elementary school students. The curriculum is based on a series of mini-workshops providing the Nutrition Educator and Food Service worker with information under the following topic (lesson) headings: Make It a Team; the Four Food Groups; Nutrients for Health; Planning Menus For Reimbursable Meals; and Nutrition Education Strategies. Each lesson includes an introduction, lesson objectives; supplemental materials (posters, booklets, and handouts), and activities. Sample worksheets from the SNAC Curriculum Guides are provided.
