The National Education Association (NEA) has assembled data about its rival organization, the American Federation of Teachers (AFT). For each state, the total state membership is shown together with each local's identifying number, name, and total members for 1979 and 1980. Overseas membership is listed, as are comparative data for the years 1974 through 1980 concerning AFT membership, gain or loss of members, number of active locals, and state federations listed by AFT. A fact sheet shows the comparative strength of NEA and AFT in 1980.
