This booklet describes 50 Title I programs that have been validated by the Education Division of the Department of Health, Education and Welfare as exemplary. The descriptions, written originally for use in newspapers and by radio and television stations, tell how the programs operate, what makes them successful, and how the students are achieving. Most descriptions focus on reading and language arts programs, but examples of math programs, programs with high levels of parental participation, individualized instruction, and bilingual education are included.
