A Study of Attitudes of Teachers and Principals Toward Middle School Certification.
DeMedio, Dwayne L.; Kish, John P., Jr.
Attitudes toward middle school certification in Ohio were studied. The study concerned teachers and principals of schools containing grades 6 through 8. Results, obtained through an attitudinal questionnaire, indicated that type of district and position had no effect on the participants' attitudes. However, educational level (elementary, middle, secondary) did have an effect. Middle school teachers and principals favored certification, but those in elementary and secondary schools did not. Data also showed a genuine need for special middle school certification for counselors. (GK)
