Supplement to the Handbook for Institutional Academic and Program Planning.

Sample procedures, data formats; questionnaires, and explanations are presented that institutions can use to adapt and implement the planning process described in "A Handbook for Institutional and Academic Program Planning: From Idea to Implementation" (Kieft, Armijo, and Bucklew, 1978). Materials are designed for use by two-year and four-year colleges and comprehensive universities. The supplement is organized around the three major steps described in the handbook: (1) conducting a preplanning assessment, (2) formulating planning assumptions and describing the context for planning, and (3) implementation and operation. The questionnaire, data formats, and references to additional sources of information are designed to aid institutions in evaluation of existing planning methods, in assessment of the need for improvement, and other preplanning assessment. Similar materials that institutions can use to describe the environment for which they must plan are included. These materials are designed to aid in conducting studies of internal and external information, developing an education plan, and writing a summary of the planning process. Additional materials include planning calendars, sample planning forms for describing program objectives and activities through which the objectives can be accomplished, and other materials that institutions can use to implement and operate the process.
