Canadian and Comparative Educational Administration.
Farquhar, Robin H., Ed.; Housego, Ian E., Ed.
Most of the articles in this book evolved from papers presented during the Fourth Quadrennial International Intervisitation Program in Educational Administration held in Canada in 1978. Its purposes were to inform educational leaders from around the world about educational administration, organization, and policy in Canada and to provide a forum for the international exchange of ideas toward advancing the study and practice of educational administration. Section 1 focuses on educational leadership in Canada and includes discussion of social factors influencing education, concerns of administrators, research in educational administration, and preparation programs. Section 2 has as its theme the administrator as mediator and includes case studies from Australia, Malaysia, Israel, British Columbia, Quebec, Great Britain, and the Caribbean island of St. Lucia. Section 3 looks at problems and trends in the field of educational administration in Great Britain, Canada, Australia, and Sri Lanka. Section 4 deals with contemporary issues in training educational administrators in Great Britain, Australia, and South America. Section 5 looks at educational planning and includes a case study from Nigeria. Section 6 looks at the future of the study of educational administration and alternative directions for research. Section 7 looks at administration and policy-making in education. (JM)
