Regulations and procedures for the operation of the Virginia General Educational Development (GED) Testing Program are provided. The GED is a means for measuring an individual's educational competency, particularly the major generalizations, ideas, and intellectual skills that are the outcome of four years of high school instruction. Emphasis is on intellectual power, comprehension, and clear thinking. The GED makes it possible for individuals to qualify for college admission, meet educational requirements for employment, meet enlistment requirements for the Armed Forces, and to meet state/local licensing requirements for occupations at grade twelve levels. General information regarding the GED program is included, as are the following: state function/responsibility, official GED center requirements, local administrator of GED applications (LAGEDA) information, and a sample answer sheet.
