Written in Spanish and focusing on block play activities in the context of early childhood education this manual provides guidelines on expanding such activities for Spanish-speaking teachers of preschool and primary school children. The content of the manual is oriented to the learning styles and special interests of Spanish-speaking children. Part One discusses the importance of experience with blocks in child development. Part Two presents guidelines for room arrangement and materials distribution. Parts Three and Four describe and explore block play activities and problems (with solutions) that arise in the blocks area. Some ideas for developing and acquiring materials are discussed in Part Five. Forms of play blocks, phases of constructive block play, suggested learning activities and a list of Child Development Associate (CDA) competencies in the area of block play are appended.
