Teaching Young People about the Law through Literature: An Annotated Bibliography.
Sorensen, Marilou R., Ed.
This annotated bibliography is intended for preschool, elementary, and middle school teachers who want to incorporate law-related reading materials into their reading, language arts, and social studies programs. Fiction, fantasy, poetry, and nonfiction are listed under four general topics: citizenship, conflict and conflict resolution, authority and governance, and values. The four broad topics are divided into 32 subthemes, which are matched to the book titles in an alphabetical grid at the end of the bibliography. Each entry in the bibliography contains author, title, annotation, type of literature, and intended age/grade level of the work. Some entries have suggestions for discussion questions and activities. Several unit approaches are suggested for studying various subthemes within the general topics. (RL)
