Educating Teachers of Mathematics: The Universities' Responsibility.

The proceedings of a conference that discussed the universities' responsibilities in the preparation of mathematics teachers are presented. The report covers a series of meetings at Queen's University, Kingston, Canada, from August 31 to September 3, 1977. The conference was restricted to university mathematicians and mathematics educators in Canada, and was designed to be a starting point for more professional contact and public discussion of mathematics education. Major portions of the report contain papers on: Mathematics Education Research in Canada, Innovations in Teacher Education Programs, Objectives of Mathematics Education, Reports from Five Working Groups, and Reflections After the Conference.
