Meadville, Mississippi Basic Educational Skills Project Program Description.
Monroe, Jean; And Others
After a year of involvement in the Head Start Basic Educational Skills (BES) Program, the people of Meadville, Mississippi have developed this program description to document current implementation and to define their vision for the future course of Meadville's BES Program. The program description is designed to inform and assist individuals who have annual responsibility for implementing, assessing, and refining the program. The program description consists of two parts: (1) background information on the Meadville Project, and (2) description of current implementation and future adaptation. In the first section, the community, the schools (both Head Start and elementary), the grantee, the BES staff, and the facilitator (Far West Laboratory for Educational Research and Development) are described. The second section contains a separate segment on each of the program elements: Parent Involvement, Curriculum, Teacher Attitudes and Behaviors, and Continuity. Each of these segments includes two types of information. The first describes the activities taking place in the program element during the program year being reported. The second type of information concerns plans for the future--the desired outcomes for Meadville's adaptation of the facilitator's educational approach. (Author/MP)
