Using the Magnetboard. Practical Language Teaching, No. 2.
Byrne, Donn
This guide to the classroom use of the magnetboard, part of a series intended for second language teachers, is profusely illustrated in such a way as to make it useful in many classroom contexts. A discussion of the "hardware" of magnetboards (the boards themselves and materials to attach to them) takes up approximately the first third of the book. The remainder is devoted to techniques for effective use of the magnetboard, with emphasis on care in selection of materials. The following aspects of second language instruction receive individual attention: listening comprehension, text presentation, text elicitation, drills, micro-dialogues, group activities, language games, oral composition, vocabulary, reading, grammar, testing, and presenting information.
