French Basic Course: Taped Exercises in Phonology. Volume I, Units 1-7. Instructor Edition.
Defense Language Inst., Monterey, CA.
The lessons in this teacher's guide are intended to supplement existing taped materials in the French Basic Course. Emphasis is placed on creative activities, realistic situations, and authentic speech variations. The materials can be used for self-study purposes as well as in a language lab under the guidance of an instructor. The seven units in this volume deal with sound discrimination and pronunciation of French vowel sounds. Each unit contains the following sections: (1) learning objectives, (2) presentation of the sounds in several steps, and (3) several self-evaluative quizzes. Many of the exercises are accompanied by cartoon-type illustrations. The correct responses to the listening and discrimination exercises are indicated. (AMH)
