An Interdisciplinary Approach for Service Delivery in a Rural State.
Friedl, Michael; And Others
The paper presents an overview of the interdisciplinary team approach for providing services to multihandicapped learners (3 to 18 years old). The model was developed to alleviate problems encountered by educational personnel serving the multihandicapped in a rural state. The model incorporates a local and a state interdisciplinary team. The two teams interface with one another and facilitate delivery of services to outlying areas. Several specialists are involved in the team effort. The type and intensity of services rendered are dependent upon the needs of the individual learners. The paper investigates the effectiveness of the delivery system and discusses methods that may ameliorate specific problems encountered over the past 3 years. (Author/SBH)
