Detroit Objective Referenced Tests. Teacher's Guide.
Detroit Board of Education, MI.
This booklet is a teacher's guide to using the Detroit Objective Referenced Tests (DORT), a systems approach to reading instruction that matches instructional strategies to student needs. The materials are offered in two sections for elementary and middle school implementation. Decoding and comprehension materials are discussed for both educational levels. The elements of the DORT system that are offered or explained include assessment kits, placement tests, assessment tests, directions for marking and interpreting tests, student group profiles, and methods of scheduling instruction. Appendixes provide information on conducting individual oral reading surveys; suggestions for classroom arrangement; a pronunciation key; a glossary of terms used in DORT management; and a cross index of educational objectives created by the state of Michigan, the city of Detroit, the Iowa Test of Basic Skills, and the DORT comprehension assessment kits.
