A Student Profile.
Maine Univ., Augusta.
A survey of graduates and students from the University of Maine at Augusta (UMA) was conducted in Spring 1980 to provide a profile of new and continuing students and to assess the vocational success of recent UMA graduates. The survey sample included: (1) 461 students selected from the entire UMA population; (2) 49 students enrolled in UMA's three-year public administration program; (3) 180 students in the three-year business administration program; (4) 130 students enrolled in the two-year nursing curriculum; and (5) 600 recent graduates from these vocational programs. The students, selected at ramdom, were asked to provide information related to their personal characteristics, educational background, college choice, attendance patterns, educational and vocational objectives, and scheduling preferences. Data on graduates' characteristics, current educational and/or occupational pursuits and goals, and evaluation of UMA and the preparation they received were also collected. The survey report analyzes major findings for each respondent group based on a 52.4% response rate for students and a 32% response rate for graduates. Data tables provided throughout the report cross-index findings by sex, age, veteran's status, new or continuing emrollment status. Length of full- or part-time status. The questionnaires and item-by-item responses are appended. (JP)
