Statistical Profiles of the University of Mississippi, 1978-1979.
Mississippi Univ., University. Bureau of Institutional Research.
This first annual publication from the University of Mississippi's Bureau of Institutional Research and Planning summarizes data concerning the university's academic operations in the immediately preceding academic year. The report provides both an historical context in which to review the university's development and a realistic set of statistical parameters from which to plan for its future. Sections include: entering student information; enrollment related information; student enrollment by program; and institutional support operations. Highlights noted include: high school grade inflation reported by entering students is apparent; the enrollment of female students on the Oxford campus has grown almost 2 l/2 times in the past 14 years; the School of Business Administration has grown markedly in recent years; the apparent limited number of majors indicated in several areas raises questions concerning their long-term viability; and more than half of all expenditures at the university are made in direct support of its commitment to instruction, research, and public service. This fact book was an award winner at the 1980 Annual Forum of the Association of Institutional Research. (LC)
