Axford; Roger W., Ed.
Papers from an Arizona State University conference on "Professional Continuing Education"--including the fields of business and industry, labor, education, allied health, and government--are presented. A variety of perspectives on the needs of professionals and opportunities for continuing education are provided by such contributors as a dean of continuing education of a large private university, a nationally recognized union leader, a president of one of America's largest community college districts and a dean of students from a large Midwestern university. Implications for business and industry, counseling, health professions, government employees, and educational visits and exchanges are discussed. Papers include: New Trends in Professional Continuing Education (Rosalind Loring); Education and Organized Labor (I.W. Abel); Professional Continuing Education in the Community College Setting (Paul Elsner); The Sabbatical: As Personal Growth in Continuing Education (Gordon H. Henry); and issues in continuing education for the Health Care profession. The program agenda in its entirety and a bibliography are also provided. (LC)
