A Feasibility Study for Mobile Marketing and Distribution Occupational Laboratories in North Dakota.

A study determined the feasibility of a mobile laboratory for marketing and distribution in North Dakota. It attempted to answer four questions: (1) What types of staffing, equipment, curriculum, and delivery systems are presently being utilized in mobile laboratories throughout the nation? (2) What significant information obtained from mobile laboratory instructors could be useful in the development of distributive education mobile laboratories? (3) What type of curriculum (content, projects, activities) could be offered in mobile laboratory programs? and (4) What are the present degrees of interest of local school administrators regarding the concept? Activities included reviewing the literature; developing a summary of significant plans, models, curriculum guides, recommendations, etc., applicable to marketing and distributive occupations; obtaining recommendations concerning mobile laboratory curriculum and equipment for experienced vocational educators; soliciting information from high school administrators concerning their interest; and developing an outline of significant mobile laboratory recommendations, features, and plans appropriate for implementation in school systems. (The curriculum plan developed is provided as a guide for teacher-coordinators of mobile laboratory programs in planning curricula. It includes curriculum units with suggested sequenced weeks of instruction. Appendixes include the instructor's and school administrator's questionnaires.) (YLB)
