Career Education Center for the Pre-Service and In-Service Training of Classroom Teachers.
Auburn Univ., AL. School of Education.
The primary purpose of this project was to demonstrate an effective model for selected preservice and inservice training of classroom teachers in the utilization of career education. Project activities included providing a three-day intensive experience in career education to ninety classroom teachers. Another activity was to provide a three-day intensive experience in career education for 100 preservice students in the elementary and secondary education departments of Auburn University School of Education. Evaluation of the levels of knowledge about career education acquired by participants indicated significant gains by both inservice and preservice groups. It was noted that the inservice groups made a more significant gain than the preservice. Participation appears to have made a meaningful impact on their respective classrooms. When asked if they had adopted the Career Education Learning Center's idea in the classroom, 50 percent responded positively. All participants rated the materials provided them in the workshop at least somewhat helpful. (The pretest/posttest is appended.) (LRA)
