Analysis of Covariance with Repeated Measures: Multivariate Linear Model Approach.

The multivariate analysis of variance approach to the analysis of data from repeated measures designs that include covariates is reviewed and contrasted with univariate methods. Assumptions necessary for meaningful interpretation of the results of the multivariate analysis are discussed and contrasted to those of the univariate approaches. An extension of the full-rank multivariate linear model approach and its use in testing various hypotheses and assumptions is also presented. Questions of model fitting versus hypothesis testing in exploratory research are also included. Examples illustrating the various methods are provided. (Author/JKS)
