Wisconsin Library Trustee Reference Manual.
Opinion Research Corp., Princeton, NJ.
This newly updated and revised expansion of the Wisconsin Library Trustee's Manual serves as a comprehensive resource and how-to guide for board members of public libraries that range in size and scope from small to large communities in both urban and rural areas. The manual includes basic information to which every Wisconsin library trustee should have easy access, as well as suggestions to help each trustee become an active and creative participant in designing the emerging leadership role of the public library and library systems in contemporary American life. Topics covered include meeting community needs, the trustee and the law, the ABC's of committees, board and staff relationships, library board policies, financial management, risk management, personnel management, library systems, and available resources and information. Each chapter is followed by a bibliography of reference works and source materials. A combined bibliography and glossary of commonly used library terms may also be found in the final chapter on resources. A subject index is provided, and the manual is printed in loose leaf format to permit easy addition and deletion of changes. (RAA)
