This practical guide has been created for elementary and secondary school English teachers who wish to incorporate career education in their classroom activities. The guide has two sections, one on teaching ideas and one on resources. The teaching ideas are divided into discussions of career awareness during kindergarten through grade six, career exploration during grades seven through nine, and career preparation during grades ten through twelve. The section on resources lists sources of career education materials (resource inventories, state departments of education, career education information centers, career education publications, interested professional associations, and federal sources of information), resources for the combination of English instruction and career education, general references in career education, and items that reinforce the social importance of career education.
