Educational Trends in Catholic Secondary Education.

This paper analyzes educational trends in Catholic high schools in the 1970s. A discussion of the religious aspects of Catholic school education includes spiritual development of the individual, emphasis on the social justice side of a Christian vocation, faculty responsibility for religious formation, and systematic planning to address the religious needs of students. Analysis of the personal dimension of Catholic schools includes discussion of structuring personal concern for student development into the system and building a sense of community. Finally, the scholarly dimesion of Catholic high schools includes an examination of the return to basics and to traditional skill-building and the development of self-direction in students.
