Guide for Evaluation Teams.
Kansas State Dept. of Education, Topeka.
This document presents a summary of the goals and activities suggested for external evaluation teams for Kansas high schools. The total evaluation process has three parts. First the school engages in a long and comprehensive self-study, which produces data reflecting the faculty's own perception of the school. This is followed by an intensive two- or three-day evaluation by the team of visiting professionals, whose activities are the main subject of this document. The final part is the school's own follow-through efforts to engineer the recommended changes and improvements. Evaluation team members are instructed to evaluate the school's own self-evaluation and to refer exclusively to the school's own stated purposes and objectives. A number of lists of questions are given to direct the efforts of the evaluation team in examining organizational climate, administration and staff, program design and components, student activities, guidance and other services, instructional media, auxiliary services, physical facilities, and district support.
