Feasibility Study on Institutional Library Service. Final Report.
Gothberg, Helen M.
Institutional library services for staff and residents are examined for agencies within the Department of Institutions, Colorado State Library. Data about use, library and audiovisual services, user satisfaction, facilities, staff, and budget were collected through several questionnaires: an open-ended, preliminary questionnaire; institutional library and audiovisual services survey questionnaires; an institutional staff library survey. Results obtained from data analysis of user satisfaction and of quantity/quality of collections, are presented separately for staff libraries and resident libraries. Recommendations and conclusions for staff libraries and audiovisual services are discussed in terms of library collections, quality of service, budget, compliance with national standards, and user satisfaction. Problems and inadequacies are cited, following a summary discussion of some individual libraries. Findings for resident library services are presented in the format listed above for staff library services. Operational and service objectives are suggested for individual staff and resident libraries. Appended are maps showing institutions in Colorado and the questionnaires used in the study. (SW)
