Action taken by the State of Maryland to regulate out-of-state higher education institutions and the status of such institutions for the academic year 1979-80 are examined. Twenty-three institutions previously approved to operate in Maryland received the revised regulations and an initial application to operate during the academic year 1979-80. Fully executed applications were received from 12 institutions, of which seven were granted full approval for one year, four were approved for the fall semester, and one was not approved. Of the approved institutions, nine are private colleges and two are public. Information is presented on enrollment projections for the 11 institutions for fall semester 979, instructional program offerings, location of enrollments, institutions operating on nonmilitary federal installations, institutions operating in county and private schools, institutions operating in naval installations, institutions operating in private industry, institutions operating at military bases other than naval installations, and institutions operating at churches.
