The Potential and the Reality of Program Evaluation in a Teacher Preparation Institution.
Patterson, Robert S.; And Others
This document contains four papers that examine the issue of program evaluation in the education department of the University of Alberta. The first paper discusses the creation of an office of program evaluation, its purpose, and future. The implementation of a model to guide program evaluation activities is discussed in the second paper. In addition, an examination is made of two studies dissecting both the skills and skill needs of beginning teachers who were graduates of the university's teacher education program. The third paper discusses the application of an organizational effectiveness model to program evaluation. Finally, the fourth paper examines the involvement of personnel in the evaluation of an education practicum. Companion publications examine other aspects of the teacher preparation program.
