An Introduction to the Cloze Procedure: An Annotated Bibliography.
McKenna, Michael C., Comp.; Robinson, Richard D., Comp.
The aim of this bibliography is to provide a reference on the cloze procedure that will be useful to both the practitioner and the researcher. The selection of material was made on the basis of the following criteria: the importance of the source as a contribution to cloze research; the extent and usefulness of the source's bibliography as a guide to related research; the implications of the material for practitioners; the suggested possibilities for future research using the cloze procedure; and the ease with which the original source can be obtained. The sources are arranged in nine categories: background reviews, comprehension and readability, statistical and constructional issues, the psychology of cloze, contextual phenomena, cloze as a teaching device, foreign language applications, and cloze and maze.
