Options in Public Education: A Directory of Education Options in the Chicago Public Schools.
Chicago Board of Education, IL. Dept. of Program Development/Alternative Schools.
This publication, designed for use by students, parents, educational administrators, educational planners, and researchers, provides information on educational options offered by the Chicago public school system, and cites contact persons from whom additional information can be obtained. Educational options are described for various levels including prekindergarten, primary school, elementary-secondary schools and adult education. Also included are programs and centers serving populations with special needs. Each entry includes information on functions, goals, characteristics, eligibility and application process, student selection procedures, and starting date of program. Chicago's Liaison Between Identified Needs and Know-How (LINK), which provides technical assistance to help schools identify and solve educational problems, and serves as a broker to provide schools with resources, is briefly described. Appendices list various specialized educational centers, programs, and schools. (Author/RLV)
