Contained within this Health Activities Project (HAP) learning packet are activities for children in grades 5-8. Design of the activities centers around the idea that students can control their own health and safety. Within the Heart Fitness and Action Module are teacher and student folios describing five activities which involve students in exploring heartbeats, pulse rate, pulse recovery after exercise, and in evaluating their physical condition by monitoring pulse recovery. Another activity involves students in training for one week to improve their grip strength. (CS)
