Part of an effort to develop a state plan to prevent child abuse and neglect, this report provides a summary of recommendations and supporting rationale for parenthood education in Kansas. Brief reports of committees on (1) curriculum development in elementary and secondary school, (2) teacher preparation in colleges and universities, (3) community based resources for parents, and (4) a parenthood education resource center are provided. Production of video tape materials on child abuse and neglect is reported in Appendix A. Kansas State House of Representatives Resolution No. 5060 in support of parenthood education in the public schools is reproduced in Appendix B. Appendix C presents findings from the Governor's Task Force on Problems of Youth, concerning child abuse and recommendations for prevention. (RH)
