This paper presents an overview of administrative applications of computers and how they function to help teachers develop the ability to discriminate between well- and poorly-designed methods of using computers to solve administrative problems or accomplish administrative tasks. The administrative applications presented include school financial activities, student information, personnel information, and other management information. Eight problem situations are described as the basis for study activities in administrative uses of computers. Appendix A contains an outline of administrative computer applications in schools, and a list of 25 references in Appendix B.
