Guide to Energy Management in Schools.
Oklahoma State Dept. of Education, Oklahoma City.
This guide has been prepared to assist Oklahoma school officials in developing an energy management plan. It consists of a compilation of materials drawn from a number of local, state, and federal resources. A model organizational structure is shown that could be adapted by each district in organizing an energy plan. The necessity of an energy data base is explained and the elements to be included in the data base (building profile, energy audit, weather data, and transportation data) are discussed. An energy management committee is advised to set up realistic but challenging goals for their energy conservation program. Necessary data are specified for a self-evaluation survey of total school energy consumption in order to determine whether or not the energy conservation program is succeeding. A series of energy saving recommendations are made for specific school departments. The appendices contain reference materials as well as instructions and forms for tabulating and graphing energy consumption. Instructions for describing schools in order to enter data in the Public Schools Energy Conservation Service (PSECS) computer program are also included. (MLF)
