A Study to Evaluate the Nineteen Regional Career Guidance Centers within Illinois. Final Report, February 1, 1979 through June 30, 1979.

A study to evaluate Career Guidance Centers (CGCs) in Illinois resulted in both objective evaluation and in the provision of technical assistance for the regional centers. An epiphenomenon of the study activity was the development of a model for the evaluation of pilot site (exemplary) projects with the potential of its being transported to similar projects. Major activities of the study were orientation visitations, preparation of instrumentation for and conduct of onsite review team visitations, development of a statewide composite of findings from the nineteen individual evaluations, provision of technical assistance as part of a statewide conference of all CGC directors, and staff, and preparation and dissemination of various reports and products. Based on information obtained from on-site interviews, evaluations of each of the centers provided composite conclusions from which recommendations and suggested improvements were categorized according to five program components identified as essential to the success of CGCs: planning and evaluation, program management, vocational guidance and counseling programs and services, personnel, and community resources.
