The selective bibliography of 383 currently available resource materials is to be used as a guide for the purpose of selecting grade K-12 instructional materials by and about American Indians that will help children attain positive self images. The books, records, cassettes, transparencies, kits, charts, maps, filmstrips, slides, and games listed provide accurate portrayals of the heritage, history, and heroes of Native Americans. The materials are arranged in four sections: (1) Dewey Decimal Classification, providing an author main entry with necessary information about grade levels, publishers, publishing dates from 1963-1977, prices, and brief annotations; (2) Alphabetical Index, used as an index to Section 1, with materials arranged in one alphabetical listing by author, title, and subject; (3) Curriculum Arrangement, giving suggested curriculum areas and grade levels; and (4) Sources and Resources, containing information to assist in achieving and enhancing educational equity of all Montgomery County (MD) Public School students. Section 4 materials include a 50 item annotated bibliography of bibliographies on American Indian educational resource materials, a 20 item annotated list of free and inexpensive learning materials about native Americans, an address list of American Indian organizations, and evaluation guidelines for selecting materials about native Americans.
