Change in School Administration. Monograph No. 4.
Gilbert, Michael B., Ed.
This monograph, dealing with some current issues in educational administration, points out some of the dilemmas and problems that accompany the educational changes that administrators face. The papers included in the publication outline important challenges with which educational leaders must cope, such as changing public policy and concomitant responses that school districts may make in compliance efforts. Four papers are included: "The Rapidly Changing Administrative Scene," exploring why the job of administrator has become less rewarding; "The Current State of Teacher Tenure," presenting the changing view of teacher tenure, including information about when tenured teachers may be terminated and given lateral reassignments; "Peer Consultation: Procedures and Problems," outlining changing practices in teacher evaluation; and "A Change Model for Schools," focusing on the change process.
