Art as Participation: The Use of An Aesthetic Model as An Interdisciplinary Teaching Method. Pilot Version.
Hinkle, G. H.; Narramore, W. D.
A pilot version of an experimental course in aesthetics and theatre is described in this report. Divided into seven sections, the report (1) explains how the course was designed for effective team teaching and for optimum student participation, (2) summarizes the characteristics and levels of commitment of the 27 undergraduates in the pilot course, (3) describes the operation of the 14-week course, (4) describes the individual projects that two students undertook independently within the course, (5) discusses the evaluative devices used and their varied assessments of the course, (6) evaluates the course with respect to both incorporating it into the college curriculum and exporting it elsewhere, and (7) estimates the operating cost of the course. Appendixes include the original course proposal, the course syllabus, a student evaluation plan and forms, a sample course examination, an audience evaluation mailing, and the proposal and grant budgets.
