Final Report of the Committee on Uniform Course Numbering Systems.
Holladay, Sylvia A.
This report is the result of a three-year survey of uniform course numbering systems across the nation, conducted by a committee created by the Conference on College Composition and Communication. It describes the establishment of the committee and then provides an overview of the responses to the survey from the 50 states. This is followed by an examination of the systems in some specific states and includes such information as how long the system has been in effect, who originated the system, who controls it, what the range and scope of the system is, what its purpose is seen to be, opinions about some specific systems, a listing of the advantages and disadvantages of the individual systems, their effects, and what future is seen for them. In addition, evaluative comments about the systems from individuals from several states are included. (TJ)
