This manual offers practical guidelines for those who wish to become involved in providing pre-retirement education for older workers. It is a multi-group discussion model with a flexible program design that can be used to develop, coordinate, and instruct pre-retirement programs in business and industry, government colleges and universities, health care agencies, churches and fraternal organizations, or other settings where a need exists. Chapter 1 provides an overview of pre-retirement education issues and content. Chapter 2 deals with the educational methods and program structure of a retirement planning workshop. Chapter 3 provides a step-by-step procedural guide for each of the topics covered in the retirement planning workshop or seminar. Finally, chapter 4 elaborates on the program planning aspects of the pre-retirement event. An appendix contains a comprehensive bibliography both for instructors and program participants and a list of available films and tapes relating to pre-retirement education and aging.
