Transcripts of hearings before the House Subcommittee on Postsecondary Education concerning the reauthorization of Title V of the Higher Education Act, the Teacher Corps and Teacher Training Programs, are presented. The Teacher Corps program is intended to act as a supplement to Title I of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act by broadening teacher preparation programs through cooperative arrangements with local school districts, colleges, and universities. It also involves programs to assist local school districts and institutions of higher education in operating teacher centers designed to improve school curricula and the inservice development of teachers. The hearings, held in the State of Michigan, focus on Teacher Corps and Teacher Center programs in that state. Testimony is presented from representatives of Michigan colleges and universities, school districts, and state programs, as well as by representatives of national programs and the federal government.
