This paper is part of a larger work developed over a period of three years on the interrelationship of theories of composing and interpreting. Following an introduction, the second and major part of the paper summarizes the four classifications of theoretical models of reading: information processing models, hypothesis testing models, developmental models, and schema models. The third part of the paper describes the isomorphic and ergodic principals in hermeneutics and displays a new configurational heuristic in the form of a 90-cell matrix that produces 2520 possibilities.
