Stepparenting.
Espinoza, Renato; Newman, Yvonne
This paper describes and organizes empirical information about stepfamilies. The emphasis is on (1) the nature of stepparent roles, (2) how individuals adjust to the demands imposed by the roles, and (3) how the special steprelationships affect the overall functioning of the family. Special problems of stepfamilies are examined and advice offered from popular literature is reviewed. Research needs are identified and considerations for helping professions are noted. An annotated bibliography is included. (Author/JMB)
