Survival strategies for college students are provided. Chapter One discusses student attitudes toward college including such areas as the importance of college, the need to attend classes, planning, and best use of homework. In Chapter Two planning four years at college is explored. Choice of courses and professors, effective use of time, the importance of academic success, and how to use the college's resources are among the topics considered. How to read, underline, take notes, select a setting for reading and organize reading time are areas surveyed in the third chapter. Setting up and organizing note taking are described in Chapter Four. Chapter Five deals with writing papers, including organization, footnoting, bibliographic entries, and title selection; it explains how papers are graded. In the final chapter on examinations the need to be prepared, the difference between high school and college exams, different types of tests, methods of studying, how exams are weighed and graded, and how to study for tests are among topics discussed.
