This guide deals with various areas of alternative education programs, including current practices and different options available to school and community personnel. Steps are outlined to assess present educational settings, design new programs, select the participants, and implement and evaluate the new program. The first appendix contains sources of information for citizen groups, teachers, administrators, school district personnel, staff members and school board members. Information is provided concerning alternatives education organizations, youth agency programs, national legislation, law enforcement assistance, and legislation to provide money to support public employment. The names, addresses, and phone numbers of contact persons are provided. The second appendix contains an annotated bibliography of references pertinent to the many facets of alternative education.
