1979 Distinguished Achievement Award Entry: University of Washington Teacher Education Program.
Washington Univ., Seattle.
A teacher education program is described that functions in three patterns of education. Field placements are made in three different socio-ethnic-economic environments--suburban middle class, inner city, and metropolitan mixed-ethnic. A distinguishing feature of the program is that it is collaboratively planned and implemented. The major constituents involved in the planning and implementation process are the education department of the university, academic departments in the College of Arts and Sciences, cooperating school districts, and professional teachers' associations. Appended to this report are written comments on the program by participants. (JD)
