Wisconsin Child Identification.
Wisconsin State Dept. of Public Instruction, Madison. Div. for Handicapped Children.
The report, over half of which consists of appendixes, discusses the statewide handicapped children identification effort in Wisconsin, as mandated by the Education for All Handicapped Children Act (P.L. 94-142), Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, and other legislation. The section on the statewide identification project (Project Child Find) focuses on such aspects as public awareness, interagency cooperation, data collection and management, project staffing, and advisory committees. Among the topics covered in the section on Wisconsin local child identification projects are legislative mandates, project application, and local objectives. The evaluation of the identification programs is discussed, and some data are presented on the results to date. Some present handicapped child identification activities in Wisconsin are outlined. Included in the nine appendixes are public awareness materials, a list of high risk perinatal centers, a list of Child Find advisory committee members, and a sample "request for screening" packet.
