A Changing, More Challenging Twelfth Grade . . . Antidotes for Senioritis. NASSP Curriculum Report, Vol. 9, No. 1.
Pannwitt, Barbara, Comp.
This paper offers solutions to the apathy, social disillusionment, absenteeism, and restlessness on the part of twelfth graders approaching graduation. First it discusses causes of "senioritis" and pinpoints those students most likely to be affected. Types of senior options include bypassing twelfth grade altogether, seventh semester graduation or full-time early release, earning college credit while in high school, part-time early release for off-campus experiential learning, and evening high school or other alternative schools. The end of the report offers names and addresses of 16 schools with a description of program options they offer for graduating seniors. (LD)
